Songwriter. Singer. Rapper? Meet Kelly Paige (aka Cherry, but that's another story...), the darkly funny, hopelessly-hopeful songwriter who's never really fit in.
Born in Greenville, SC to immigrants from Zimbabwe, but never living in one place for very long, Kelly's only constant was the solace she found in music. She eventually found a place to call home in New York City, a stark contrast to her high-school life in Kansas, where she lived on 400 acres of land and competed in rodeos for fun, but somehow it makes sense.
Drawing on the sometimes confusing and painful experiences of a childhood in motion, Kelly began writing at 13 and by 16 she was a regular performer in honky-tonks, honing her singing chops and performing her original songs. She pushed her writing skills further at Belmont University in Nashville, where she was a winner and finalist in multiple songwriting competitions, but ultimately left behind her country roots to explore other genres.
Self-described as #genrefluid, she hopes to re-introduce satire and depth into pop music, as well as heal the many aches and pains that come with being human.
"Music has always been my medicine, hopefully mine can be that for somebody else."
